I'm Mrs. Oh My Gosh That Brittny's Shameless

She’s Gone To Look For America (Expect a Picture-Update sometime this week!)

Hi! It’s P. P the sister of B (rittny). Yes, it’s really me! I know you’ve been anticipating “meeting” me since Britt first posted about our marshmallow escapades two summers ago at about this time. Well, fast-forward a few summers, a couple of continents, and about four thousand 1 oz. servings of marshmallows later and, ta-da! It seems we’re kind of back where we started. Except for I’m a new high school graduate turned gypsy who has undoubtedly found myself living, observing, and worrying about my sister’s new home…and life in America.

No no, silly girls, it’s not like that. There haven’t been any threats on my beautiful B (to quote Jay-Z) and I haven’t given her a curfew or anything like that. It’s just, watching her adjust to life back here in America is kind of frightening. But oh so exhilarating too! There are hundreds of things she can do now! She’s able to buy pork (ew) in public! There’s no need for shifty expressions while hiding a whole honey-cured ham under a jacket anymore. (Even though I don’t recall anytime when she did really this. Actually, I’d probably be too embarrassed to even claim her as my sister if she did do this). She can also walk around the supermarket in a pair of 10-year-old Abercrombie cut-offs and an XXS Limited cami if she wants! (Even though I don’t recall anytime when she really did this. Actually, I’d probably be too embarrassed to even claim her as my sister if she did do this.)

All joking and my ADHD aside, I kind of really loved having my sister in Kuwait. Yes, I know that’s incredibly selfish since her hyperhidrosis (um, Britt, am I allowed to mention this to your friends?) kicked in .43 seconds after she would step outside everyday and because the people she worked with were incredibly classless and because on occasion, she got flicked off while trying to go out for a nice meal with her cute little sister. But I can’t help wanting to secretly book her a flight back to Kuwait every Monday as I look at PostSecret and read all of the creepy weird things that American “crazies” do. Like the guy on this week’s page who likes to “Eat the last page of a really good book”. Seriously mister psycho librarian man (PLM)? Please tell me Mr. PLM that you do not live in the Oklahoma City Metro area? Pretty please? Because if you do, that’s one more reason for me to put B on a curfew.

Every time I read PostSecret it seems to scream at me “Don’t live in America! Don’t let Brittny live in America! These people, they’re mad!” Not all of you of course, I mean, I’m a proud navy blue passport-carrying person myself. And isn’t it sad how a few people who send secrets to Germantown, Maryland almost sent me boycotting my sister’s return to America? But since my picketing skills are ridiculously lame, I was forced to let her board her plane and set up camp in the heartland. She’s happy-Ulta and Taco Bueno are mere minutes from her home, the boy is happy-OU football season is just around the corner and Boz and Lucy, um, they’re freaking loving the grass. The backyard kind.

So maybe I’m the overprotective, paranoid one worrying about her. She’s probably totally over the fact that Mr. PLM may be standing behind her at Barnes & Noble. And yes, she’s completely distraught over the fact that she has to clean her own house now and the fact that familial drop-ins will be come a norm but for the most part (not completely!), she’s happy that her 40 days in the desert are terminé. I guess if you love someone you have to let them go.

I must go recover from hyperventilating over the fact that I just used the most awful cliché in my first guest-post. Please forgive me. Everyone. Even you, the PostSecret sender or you, the PostSecret lurker, yes, even you.

xo,
P

(And for those of you who are racking your brains to think of what my name is, I’ll give you a hint…it’s not Penny. Or Peggy. Or Penelope. It actually, gasp!, starts with a C.)

Well - all that blog-stalking DOES pay off - I’m the first commenter smile haha

First off, I must say the B-Love clan is so well spoken.  I always new Brittny could write, but Miss P can too smile Maybe it’s time you start your own blog!  Or at least start stalking ours (see as we all stalk B’s).

Thank you so much for updating us all on your wonderful sister - we sure have missed her!  I can imagine how it’s hard on both of you, B leaving Kuwait and her awesome sister (who I hear is going to school in the area) and you on staying in Q8 while Brittny, Will and the awesome puppies headed off to the US of A.

I’m sure we’ll all be anxiously awaiting updates.  This one, actually, made my day.  Nothing cures a stressful day at work better than a B-Love (or B-Love sister) blog post!

I’m with Angela.  We need a P blog.  Your sis always talks about your amazing jet-setting life, and I would love to read about your new adventures in undergrad in the Middle East.  smile It is so nice to “meet” you in blog-land, since we have heard so much about your from B.

And don’t worry about her.  B is WAY too much for Mr. PLM to handle.  I gather that he’s one of those weird, anti-social, doesn’t like to be around people types, and they can’t handle cute, friendly, social people like you and B.  True story. Now… the person who dyes their “down-there-hair” hot pink...THAT’S who you need to worry about.  smile

P, I can’t believe that you just wrote a post that rivals your sis’s.  I can remember the days at the office when you were all of about 15 or so and well, we won’t go back that far to remembering.

I agree that you too need to have your own post.  I have enjoyed readings B’s in the last few years.  It has helped me still fell close to your fam, as when you were here, I thought of you as family in a lot of ways.

Love ya,

Lyna

Miss P is a fiesty one.  You’re lucky to have her.

OMG - I just misspelled feisty.  I spelled it like Fee-yesty.  My that P is a fee-yesty little spitfire.

Shame on me.

Yes, Yes, a P (or C!) blog!!

Nice to get a chance to “chat” with you, P!  Don’t worry… ALL Americans aren’t nuts!!

To respond to JessPond - I’M certainly not nuts.  I’m Canadian, eh?  haha

Oh gee, can you tell I’ve missed B’s posts (P - You definitely NEED to start a blog - it’ll help wiht my B withdrawal while she gets “settled") I’m responding to comments *sigh*

That’s just sweet and so well said. I think sisterly love and worry just increase as we grow older and take on more responsibility. I have loved reading how well you guys get along. My sisters mean the world to me and you only want the best for them. Well spoken! Nice to meet you P! And I always thought it was Penelope by the way!

Hey P! (C!)

Great to hear that you are taking care of your big sis...it’s nice that you two can spend some quality time together. I know it’s really hard to be away from a sister you are so close to.

p.s. i am only 45 minutes from your sis so if you need me to double check that she’s following the curfew you’ve set, gimme a call!

***On a side note, since we’re addressing more of the B-Love family, i’d like to give a shout-out to “Your Mom”...Amy just told me about the fun they had at Falls Creek this year and it made me long for the days before full-time jobs when we got to take off and all hang out together at the FC. Those were the days...***

I’m so with all the other girls--we need a P blog!! Seriously, you are just the cutest thing! And make me wish my sisters were as cool as you. wink

Thanks for posting--it was wonderful to “meet” you! smile

Love,
Erin

I was sort of laughing at the fact that P blogs just like Brittny!  They sound the same while posting!  I kept thinking, “this isn’t really P.  It sounds too much like Brittny” and then just accepted the fact that I will never fully know. :o)

The infamous P!  You guys are great.  I can “hear” the sisternesssmile

Posted by  on  07/15  at  09:03 AM

Here here!!  A P Blog must be in the works now that we’ve all requested one.  I don’t know how, but I know what your name is… hmmm… how do I know that?  I guess all that stalking at Barnes & Noble has totally paid off.  Anyway - I say your first post should be the story of why Brittny calls you “P.” Let’s hear it!

Posted by Annie  on  07/15  at  09:15 AM

I still can’t believe you’re a high school graduate...I remember when you were just a little kid.  You make me feel old.  But all in all, it’s so nice to see that you’ve grown up to be such a beautiful and intelligent young woman.  LoL...I still have an e-gram from Falls Creek that you sent me one year.  And from Megan’s post above, I’m assuming that Britt didn’t move back to L-town.  Sad...I was thinking she was just across town from me :(

Hey - was Megan H referring to me when she wrote about “your mom” or was she referring to your real mom?  I don’t think I know her.  I use “your Mom” as my fantasy football team name, so for some reason I respond to Brittny’s blogs that way too.  Ask Brittny who I am, I’m not really your mom grin

It is so good to hear from the wonderful lil’ sis!  Thanks for keeping Britt sane and we want to hear more from you!

My gosh, this has been a long time coming… a post from C (I happen to know your real name). Don’t be alarmed B told me and she can totally couch that I give America a good name! It’s so nice to “meet” you - I’ve heard so much about you and I can completely relate to your relationship with your sister as my little is completely amazing like yourself. We’ll take care of B!

I five 20th the request for a P/C blog.  You are just too much fun!  smile

Posted by MeLissa  on  07/16  at  03:20 PM

Wait a minute!  Did B relly get you to believe the whole hidden ham story?  Because I am pretty sure that in an act of despiration, after weeks of crazy gym workouts and steamed veggies, she would also hide a pint of Ben & Jerry’s under her hypercolor t!!

I am obsessed with postsecret too.  It makes me feel very normal--and very boring

I'm B-Love. I've just returned to America after spending three years in Kuwait with my husband Mr. B-Love and our two maltese, Boz and Lucy. We recently added two more doggies to our family, Rocky and Teddy. I love weight training, OU football, and lazy weekends. Buckle up and get ready for my constant embarrassing moments, continual madness at a new job, and my daily effort to rely on Christ while adjusting to life back in the real world.
