Okay.
Can we please stay on track and actually do an Annoying Monday Update without getting sidetracked!?
It seems I always start with good intentions, but you guys always get me off on some other tangent. Quit messing me up!
Will and I had a lovely weekend. Have I droned on and on about the wonderful weather yet? I believe so. I think you guys probably start to twitch the second I mention it. Prepare to twitch- the weather was amazing so we decided to walk along the Gulf Road walkway Saturday afternoon. I got a few pictures I’ll have to post for you guys. The walkway is close to the water. It was so beautiful and blue that day. Okay, enough weather talk. I’ll post pictures soon. After our walk we ate lunch at Hard Rock- so any good we did walking was quickly killed the second we ordered our spring rolls. It was nice to get out and enjoy the day. We wait so long for these days to come, so it’s good to actually take advantage of them!
So another work week started yesterday. boo. Will is much more optimistic than I am. Come Saturday night I’m kicking and screaming at the thought of work, but Will is always like, “Just think- one day down that’s closer to our vacation.”
Between you and me- that sort of attitude makes me want to vomit. Please, just let me lie in my Saturday night self-pity.
He’s right though. Our Jordan trip is right around the corner, and soon after we return from there it’s USA Bound Baby!
I’m incredibly excited about going home. It will be over 10 months since we’ve been back to the states, and over a year since we’ve been to Oklahoma. We’re very ready for a trip home. I mentioned that we’re going to see the Minnesota Vikings play since Adrian Peterson is a former OU player, and I’m getting very excited about this game! He broke the records for the most yards rushed in a game last night as a rookie! I can’t wait to watch him. The guy is a freak.
Speaking of sports- you’ll never guess what’s going on in Oklahoma! There’s a good chance the Sooner State might be getting a professional basketball team! Can you believe it? We’re finally doing something with ourselves. Discovering in 1987 that rubbing two sticks together makes fire, getting electricity four years later, and now we’re getting a basketball team! We’re movin’ on up. If all works out, the Seattle Sonics are going to move their franchise to OKC. We have a really great arena and already proved we can fill up seats when the New Orleans Hornets played a season there after the hurricane. That’s the big sports news back home. Hopefully it all happens.
I know you guys are thrilled.
(hey- it’s called an annoying weekly update with good reason)
I read Rusti’s recent thoughts on fuel and they made me cringe. The thought of going home and paying that much for gas will be quite an awakening for us! Want to know something that will make you want to shove a Bic pen in your eye?
When our car is low- like the gas light has been on for the last 35 kilometers and we’re throwing the car in neutral every chance we get as we pray to God we’ll be able to coast into the gas station on one last fume sort of low- I only pay about $12.45 to fill the entire tank.
Good thing you had that Bic ready, right?
We’re renting an SUV while we’re in Minneapolis, so I’ll have the joy of experiencing what it’s like to fill up a monster gas tank for the price of a small yacht.
Are they doing anything with vegetable oil for fuel yet? Maybe I’ll wait to come home for good until that’s taken care of.
^ Yet another one of those moments when I realized I’m a bit detached from American life. Don’t worry- I’ll get good and experienced at cussing out the gas pump while we’re home. In fact, I’ve already been practicing. When the little Indian guy comes to take my money I always yell something really stupid just to get myself warmed up.
Okay, I’m lying- but maybe I should start doing that.
Speaking of gas- want to know something utterly pathetic?
I haven’t pumped my own gas since 2005.
Hmm, okay maybe the fall of 2006, but I can’t be sure.
All the gas stations here have attendants that do it for you. It’s wonderful. We should do that in America.
I think we would run into problems with worker’s rights and stuff. I’m not really sure if they have many of those laws here.
Laws = Having To Pump Your Own Gas.
Bummer.
I guess it’s a good thing they’re there though. I will, however, miss my gas attendant friends one day.
While we’re on the subject of conveniences- want to know something really pathetic?
Even fast food restaurants deliver in Kuwait.
Yep.
How sad is that!?
Fast food has officially been made faster. All you have to do is use your nubby little fat fingers to press a few buttons and Presto! your McDonald’s salad is right at your door.
Ha ha, salad. Yeah right.
Ooh- let me introduce you to this. You register and then can order food online and it comes to your door. You never even have to speak to a person. How impersonal, yet incredibly convenient. Almost too convenient.
There’s also a place that delivers groceries to your house, but I don’t remember the site.
Laziness, I tell you!
A-freaking-mazing.
Totally side-tracked.
How did this go from an Annoying Weekly Update to all about the conveniences of Kuwait? Who knows.
I should know by now that I will get off track with these silly updates. I don’t even know why I try.
On a serious note, can I you guys say a prayer for me? Just say, “God be with Will and Brittny on ‘that thing’ and provide guidance and wisdom. PS, can you make it snappy?” ha ha. Okay- you don’t have to pray the second part, but I’d appreciate the first part. There are two things I really want to give over to God and get some guidance on, and God knows I need all the help I can get- so your prayers are much appreciated. Once I figure out what in the world is going on, I’ll be sure to update you guys.
Wow. This is painfully boring. I felt I couldn’t leave yesterday’s post up, though, so I’m simply writing for that and that alone.
If you’ve made it this far, I should apologize for the sad and boring post content. You should treat yourself to something nice.
Okay, enough. I’m putting myself to sleep!
Happy Monday! <- why do people say that?? Is there anything extremely thrilling about a Monday morning? I think not. How annoying.
<3

Proud to say that as a Jersey girl, I don’t pump my own gas either. I’ve done it once, in VA and never again. If we ever move I’m so screwed lol.
Prayers for you!
