The Snowy One & Look Ahead

Oh my,where do I even start!?

You know how your kids get overwhelmed with glee about things and string incoherent sentences about various elements regarding each excitable topic!?

Yeah, that’s me.

Sure, it’s Monday, but next week is Thanksgiving!

We just have to tackle this giant and challenging week ahead of us to get to a short week of family, relaxation, ridiculously delicious food, and sweet bliss.

Whew.

Can we please get excited!?

Thanks.

Sooo I want to tell you about how much it snowed.

In Oklahoma.

In November (because it never happens).

However I think we should start with Friday and lead up to the white stuff.

Friday.

Oh my stars.

So, Will is a huge Garth Brooks fan.

Like super big man crush.

Back in the 90s my guy had boots, tight jeans, and a fancy cowboy hat.

Um he even had a license plate cover that said “Kountry.”

With a K.

Real life.

Thank God the good Lord intercepted our paths after this phase.

Anyway, while the boots and hat have been retired, his life for Garth stuck.

You may know he is touring again. He will be in Tulsa in January, and tickets went on sale Friday morning.

They sold out in minutes, but Will managed to score tickets.

Incase your wondering, he’s happy in a scary way right now.

Like, I want him to dial it back a little.

Anyway, that’s how Friday started.

Friday night was busy. We got our cars detailed last week, so we had to rush to the shop to pick them up before they closed. Then it was off to run a few more errands.

The rest of the evening was quiet and relaxing.

Saturday was tons o fun! Will and his friends scheduled a big paintball outing weeks ago, so that’s what he did almost all day.

Check out this mean mug.

Paintball face

I had big plans for the day, too.

I did a crazy leg circuit complete with cardio, too.

After getting cleaned up, I headed to my sister’s house to make chocolate chip pumpkin pancakes with her and Layla!

Only… I mis-measured one of the ingredients, which led to super thick pancakes that didn’t flip easily.

Pumpkin pancake massacre

Or at all.

Sooo we made delicious muffins instead!

So so so good.

The save: delicious pumpkin muffins

I spent the rest of the morning hanging out there and enjoying time with the girls I love.

Beyond blessed by this smiley gal

I came home early that afternoon and did laundry and a few other not so exciting chores.

Will got home, grinning from ear to ear. It’s an understatement to say he had a good time. He had a blast!

He was tired from his strenuous day dodging paintballs, so we stayed in and watched some college football.

We watched the news and knew snow was in the forecast, so we decided to sleep in and go to a later church service, or do church online if it looked like it was going to be slick.

I set my alarm for 6:30 to get up and workout.

Yeah… I didn’t get up until 8:30!

It’s been a long time since I’ve slept so late, but it felt wonderful.

We tuned on the TV to catch the weather and decided to stay in for the day.

Oh my, it was fantastic.

Snow day! ❄️

Sure, I’d get stir crazy if I had to do it for several days, but snow days are the bees knees in my book.

The only thing better would have been if work was cancelled today smile

We watched church service online and spent the rest of the day completely nesting. I made a giant lot of soup for the week, and we just hung out and were “forced” to relax. I’ll take it!

I even sneaked in a workout at home, leaving me feeling quite accomplished. Haha

So now we are back to Monday. A long week, and I have a full plate.

The good news is that I’ve got some fun stuff lined up.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead this week:

Here’s to a good day and happy thoughts for next week!

When football meets football
Does anyone else find it weird how the NFL keeps pushing American football on our British friends?

Guys. They have football.

We call it soccer.

Apparently it’s kind of sort of catching on, so maybe I’m wrong.

It just kind of makes me laugh.

One of my food dreams had come true

And.its.killing.me.

It’s no secret I’m kind of totally addicted to peanut butter.

I’ve always wished I could find one that had higher protein that I could buy at a regular store instead of online or speciality shop.
Naturally killing me. Peanut butter and added protein!? Dead. 😍
This peanut butter.

Help me.

This stuff has flax for added omegas plus pea protein for an extra three grams of protein than regular brands.

Sooo it’s safe to say this jar will be gone by the end of the week.

Zep-ity Do Da

Let’s talk cleaners.

I have no brand loyalty to anything. Half the time I go to the store needing one thing and coming out with another.

They all promise the same things, but most are iffy at best for actually delivering.

I was lucky enough to get to try a couple samples of Zep the last time I cleaned my house.

The good news is that everything they claimed on the front of the bottles was actually true.

The Oxy spray handled yucky buildup, and the disinfectant not only cleans and deodorizes but also de-grunged too.

I have a feeling I won’t be so lost next time I head to the cleaning aisle.

Zep!

What is happening here!?

Brittny FLint-5 years old-is this a smile or what

I’d anyone disturbed like I am?

What are your making for Thanksgiving?

I need to borrow your inspiration.

Help!

I always bring much of the same, and I love all those things, but I thought it might be fun to change things up and being something new and delicious.

So fire away.

Hug a Vet
Finally, thank you so very much to all our veterans. I cannot express my appreciation for the sacrifices you and your families make.

I grew up an army brat my entire life, and have such a love for my country and service men and women because of it.

Brittny Flint-5 years old with Dad when he left for Germany

The time away, the moves, the changes… It’s not always easy, and I am so thankful for what you and your families do.

Thank you so much. Praying the Lord blesses you, keeps you and your families safe, and gives you wisdom and discernment in all you do.

Alright dears, that’s all for today! Check in tomorrow for more fun.

The One When Will Decided to Sell Our Tickets& Look Ahead

I don’t know about you, but I saw Christmas decorations everywhere this weekend.

Less Thanksgiving, fall-type stuff. Lots more red, green, and all things Christmassy.

I decided to be okay with it and use it as an excuse to completely nest and bake this weekend.

Plus, while I certainly don’t advocate emotional eating, I have to admit the chocolate chip cookies I made Saturday night did fill a bit of a hole after the Sooner loss.

We will get to that soon enough.

I was off Friday and devoted the entire day to cleaning my house.

Oh man, it sure needed it!

I hadn’t given it a thorough and proper cleaning since the weekend before the TCU game, so yeah, long overdue!

I decided to workout before cleaning. If I didn’t I knew I wouldn’t! After the gym and the grocery store (guys, I scored pomegranates for 59 cents each!), it was all about tackling the house.

Hours later, I was done and started folding laundry when (thankfully!) Will rescued me.

Over the last several months, we’ve been keeping all out silver change (no pennies!) in a little container. We just mindlessly add to it as we accumulate extra change we haven’t yet used.

Anyway, we took the filled container to a Coinstar machine and I was shocked to find there was $75 in our container!

Remember that “guess the jelly beans in the container” game?

Yeah, I’m terrible at those things. I told Will I thought there would be less than $40.

See what I’m saying!? Point proven.

Anyway, we exchanged it for a gift card and treated ourselves to dinner that night, and have plenty of money leftover. Nice!

It’s been awhile since Will and I have gone out on a Friday because of his work schedule, so it was a nice treat.

Saturday. Ugh Saturday.

Can we skip over Saturday?

I was close to starting today’s post with my OU rant, but decided Christmas was a better lead, yes?

The good news was that I aced my leg workout that morning. I was sure it was going to be a terrific day. smile

Oh girls, I think you have a good idea just how much we love and support our Sooners. We are at every game, many away games, donate generously to the Sooner club, and cheer them on always.

All smiles before we got completely embarrassed.  OU-Baylor 7 Nov 14

But guys…

In all our years of attending games, I’ve never ever heard OU fans boo our own coaches/play calling. That’s just not the fans I know. However, as the frustration increased so did the muttering and mumbling, and before I knew it the section opposite us was booing the defense play calls.

It was ugly. Just like the game.

I know you probably don’t want my post game analysis, so I’ll keep it short. Let’s just say my dear Will, the one completely and utterly in love with the Sooners was as beleaguered as every other fan we encountered Saturday.

Aaaaand we are selling the tickets to our remaining two games, something we’ve also never done. Will lives for this time of year, so I was shocked. And kind of bummed. Sooner football is our thing, it’s what we do together. Maybe I can convince him otherwise?

Anyway, enough griping about things that ultimately don’t amount to much in this short life. Here’s to hoping they do better!

The rest of the day was nice. Will’s parents were at the game too, so we had a post game lunch at Ted’s.

After lunch, we headed home and caught part of several games while I made [and found myself at the bottom of a bowl of] chocolate chip cookies.

Sunday was the usual stuff, but I also spent a lot of time in the kitchen.

I made homemade Mac and cheese for Will’s lunch this week, protein packed veggie breakfast muffins for me, and vegan potato soup for dinner!

Busy bee.

I spent a large portion of the weekly evening parked on the couch with Will, watching football, blogging, and thanking God for my time with him.

A weekend full of small, everyday blessings. I’ll take it.

Another week begins, and it looks to be a bitter cold one for many of us in America. In fact, I put a ton of cold weather food on the menu this week to help warm us up with the weather chills to the bone. I hope you do too!

As for posts, here’s a look at what’s ahead this week:

Please tell me you’re watching the final season of Parenthood?

I feel like there are way too many loose ends right now and it’s going to be impossible to put a pretty bow on everything.

That’s what I want. I want Zeke to get better, I want Christina’s school to be a success, I want Amber to find her way, and most of all I want Joel and Julia to get back together.

Sadly, I feel like this is the type of show that is most definitely going to end with a little heartache (probably Zeke?) and just a continuation of life with no real definitive resolutions.

I need resolutions.

Joel. Julia. This needed to happen yesterday.

We’re getting crushed in Fantasy Football

Yes, I didn’t say we’re crushing fantasy football

I said we are getting crushed.

It’s not so fun when you’re getting crushed. Lucky for Will, he has a couple more leagues on his own that are doing better.

But that doesn’t help ours! We stink.

Although he hasn’t said it, I’m pretty sure Will thinks I’m dragging him down. smile

Don’t tell Will, but I think I’m about to bring out the Christmas music.

I’m usually not that type, but its November this week, and I think it’s totally acceptable to play it in November.

I bought cashew milk on a whim the other day

I’m an almond milk girl all the way, but when I saw this at the store, I thought I’d give it a go.

It’s good! I’m still all about almond milk, but I’m glad I gave this one a go.

What goes good with cashew milk?
Chocolate cake.

Aaaand a little stress.

Soooo Will’s mom’s 60th birthday is coming up. About two months ago, I started prodding Will and his dad to figure out what we should do for this big birthday.

We took a trip to Branson for Will’s dad’s 60th, so I at least thought it would be nice to do a party and make it a big deal.

...

Those are crickets. Week after week I would ask about it and was told they were thinking about it, look at the calendar, going to coordinate with her mom (Will’s grandma), etc.

Will told me this was his dad’s thing, and he wanted to take the lead on deciding what we should do.

As I anticipated (I should have known leaving it up to the boys!), even with my early gentle reminders, nothing got done and everything is going to be last minute.

I was a little frustrated, as now Will’s grandma, aunt, and I are trying to put a little something together and still make it a big deal.

Thankfully my mother in law has a good and gentle spirit and I’m sure she will be tickled that we thought of her regardless of how it comes together.

But seriously.

Chocolate cake.

That’s all you really need for a party, right?

The Sooner Loss & Look Ahead

Monday Monday, here we go again!

Well friends, my Sooners lost this weekend.

We lost to TCU in an ugly game played tied or from behind the entire time.

Will and I actually made our way down to Dallas Saturday to cheer on the Sooners!

Originally, we were going to take off Friday and make a little trip out of it. However, with Will’s work and vacation schedule we ended up going down early Saturday morning instead.

Road tripping to the TCU# game
This was our first road trip in the new car, so that was nice too!

We got into Dallas around lunchtime, grabbed a bite, and made our way to parking.

Neither of us had been to TCU, so we got there a little early and walked around the stadium.

TCU 4 October

TCU 4 October

Here we are, all smiles. Obviously before the game. smile

WB before the game

We watched the whole game and left bummed. They’re better than that and sure didn’t play to the magnitude they’re capable.

Getting out of campus was crazy! Thankfully, once we got out of that congestion and onto the highway it wasn’t too bad.

We got on the road for a bit and didn’t eat dinner until after 9! I was a tad hangry. smile

We got in well after 11 and crashed!

We slept through our alarm yesterday, which meant church online.

The rest of yesterday was spent doing the usual- food prep for the week, laundry, football, and the like.

All in all, we had a good weekend and got to spend lots of time together, so that was nice.

Now we’re starting another week with lots on the docket.

Here’s a look at what’s coming up this week:

-Thursday Things
-On running
-50 things I did on my day off
-Ezra chapter four

So that’s what’s been going on with our family the last couple days. Hopefully you had a nice weekend and are ready to tackle the week.

Check in tomorrow!

Thursday Things, 23 Sept 14

Confession- I have not seen Frozen.

I know.

Can we still be friends?

Will’s brother is staying with us Thursday night.

Usually visitors call for fanfare and creation of the fake house, but as you may recall, I’m going a little more lax on all that craziness.

Sure I want the house to look nice, but I’m not going to kill myself to dust baseboards tomorrow night for our guest.

It’s about balance.

And hospitality.

And offering dessert never hurt either. smile

I’m feeling a bit overwhelmed when I look at my upcoming calendar.

I don’t know why, but it seems to be hitting me hard. I stopped being a worrier a long time ago, yet recently it’s begun to creep up inside my heart and I hate that!

I mentioned big changes soon, and part of it is related to that, as well as other things. Praying for peace and the ability to gracefully plow through

I wash my hands about 20 times a day

This seems a little excessive, yes?

Essentially it’s like getting up every hour from whatever I’m doing and taking two minutes to wash up.

I obviously don’t methodically time all this crazy hand washing, but between constantly picking up after & handling dogs, handling food, picking up after & handling dogs, bathroom breaks, picking up after & handling dogs…

Well you get the idea.

Anyway, between all that and weightlifting I’ve given up on soft, beautiful hands.

I have this slight suspicion people are alarmed by my man hands and firm grip the first time they meet me. Ha!

Still no spider
Still freaking out.

Fantasy Football is going well

Mostly.

The team Will and I made together is kind of average so far. We had AD in our league so we had to pick up another running back when he was suspended, and the players we have that usually put up big points haven’t been as stellar.

We’re 2-1, and I’ll take it. Let’s hope the rest of the season is a winner.

Layla is killing me with her adorableness

Nothing new, but now we are buddies. Now she can say my name and ask me to come with her. She can take my hand and she can tell me she’s happy to see me.

I can have a terrible day, and her small, pure gestures of love can make me forget everything. Be still my heart.

Please tell me you still have things on last weekends to-do list that didn’t get done.

Even with the away game, and seemingly more time available, Will and I still managed to avoid a handful of things we’ve been putting off and need to get done.

Procrastination at its finest.

Sooo last week I bought French bread for a recipe we didn’t end up making.

And then proceeded to eat the entire loaf myself throughout various times the rest of the week.

I bought another loaf this week thinking I’d be able to make the recipe for which the bread would be a njce accompaniment.

But yeah… Probably not going to happen with our schedule this week.

I’m in carb coma over here guys. Help!

Anything you care to share?

Tuesday Things, 16 Sept 14

Last Friday I got all Laura Ingalls Wilder and made my own homemade fabric softener.

Only, unlike my Little House on the Prairie kindred spirit, I didn’t wash my clothes over a wash board,

outside,

in 100 degree heat.

But still.

Laura Ingalls over here, y’all.

Here’s a quick and easy recipe that makes 12 cups of fabric softener, and it only cost me $3.50 (!!!).

Real life.

My dad kills the drums, guys.

After two years of watching others play in a local drum-off, he finally entered the contest and I’m so excited for him! I can’t wait to watch his set, and am hoping for a win!

The Sooners are on the road this week for their first big road test.

I’m looking forward to an evening on the couch eating healthy football fare and cheering from home.

I love home games, but an away game every now and then is a treat.

I can tell autumn is just around the corner.

Not because of the cooler temps or changing leaves, but because I’m craving my pumpkin protein bars and limited time coffees.

Happening.

Aaaand I got the first scratches on the car last week.

True story.

I was sick, and Will was sicker.

If you’re wondering, yes, I spent some time in the doghouse.

Sooo, in a complete subject change, I missed the Miss America pageant Sunday but can’t stop hearing about Miss New York’s talent act.

I fully understand the hubbub about it, but I’m not gonna lie, finding out she won with that suddenly made me want to dust off my old kazoo and give it a go.

Anything’s possible.

That’s it for today! Check in tomorrow for fall football fitness goals. smile

The Birthday, Tennessee Defeat & Look Ahead

Thanks for checking in! Today is all about last weekend, and what’s up ahead this week.

Let’s get moving!

I was off Friday, so in addition to working out and grocery shopping, I did lots of laundry and even made my own homemade fabric softener. Woo hoo!

Homemade fabric softener

My dad’s birthday was Friday, so we got to spend some time with my family.

Dad's birthday!

(and also had birthday cake smile )

Dad's birthday!

It was a homemade ice cream cake and so very good.

I know I say it all the time, but I’m thankful they live so close!

Saturday morning I hit the gym and worked legs. I also ran jogged trotted intervals on the treadmill.

I want to tell you I ran, but yeah, what I did could not be called running. smile

Saturday was all about game day!

Ah girls I can’t tell you how much I enjoy big games at OU. There’s so much energy everywhere you turn!

The weather was beautiful, which was an extra bonus. We striped the stadium (except the students, who all wore red) and came loud. The game was super fun, and the win was better.

OU-Tennessee striped stadium

Will started feeling badly during the game, so we left early.

Which means he really didn’t feel well! He hates leaving big games.

We still got home late, and slept in yesterday morning. Will was still under the weather so we did church online and he rested all day.

I managed to get my food prep done for the day, workout (including the aforementioned cardio), and a few other things around the house.

I also managed to watch some football with Will.

Another Monday starts, and we are kicking off another long week, but I have some fun things on the horizon.

Here’s a look at what’s ahead this week:

-Tuesday things (and a fabric softener recipe!)
-Fall workout goals
-Things I’m Loving Thursday
-Ezra chapter one

It’s gearing up to be a busy week, but I’m looking forward to fun things here. Off and away we go, Monday!

Check in tomorrow!

Tuesday Things, 9 Sept 14

-I’m pretty pumped about this Saturday’s game.

We have a home and home scheduled with Tennessee, and they’ll be here this week to take on the Sooners. Should be a fun one!

Speaking of, I think know technology has made Will’s fantasy football football obsession worse.

Way worse.

When we first got together you’d have to go to your desktop computer and put in your lineup.

Then you’d watch the games broadcasted on the main networks.

And you’d only check your scores every so often. After all, you’d have to be near your desktop computer.

Now not only does he have Sunday Ticket and every app and mobile device known to man, but he can watch on his phone.

I’m dead.

I was lucky enough to get to sample Skintimate’s Mandarin Burst shave gel.
Confession- when it comes to shaving, I am usually a soap and water gal.

Don’t judge, I already know.

Sample

Anyway, I gotta say I loved getting to try this stuff out. It smells amazing and yes, as we already know, Skintimate is far better than plain old soap and water. Lesson learned.

Oh my goodness sake.

Have you seen this video of the tarantula dog that’s gone viral?

I don’t know if it’s the fact that I have dogs or that I hate spiders, but oh my goodness guys I was cackling when I watched this video. Tears were streaming down my face, and I couldn’t catch my breath.

It’s not that funny, but I just couldn’t stop laughing.

Okay guys, do you know about the Walmart Savings Catcher?

Do it.

That’s pretty much the only place I buy groceries and I’ve used it three times and already have almost $3 accumulated on a gift card.

I realize that’s peanuts, but considering I did absolutely nothing for it and shop there all the time, I figure I might as well make some money if they’re going to do the work. Win.

Speaking of gift cards, we had a gift card to the Cheesecake Factory that was set to expire last night so we placed a to-go order to use it up.

Seriously- why is that place so great?

Or so terrible?

I suppose they’re one in the same.

I got one if their lightened up salads and skipped getting dessert.

I was so proud of myself.

Only, when I went to pick it up they took a little longer than anticipated. I was super nice about it and chatted the staff up and when I got to leave they threw in an extra piece for being so nice.

I was so proud I had the willpower not to order cheesecake. Aaaand then they took a long time and I was super nice about it and they threw in an extra piece for my kindness. Dead.

Dead.

I ate the gut bombs and am going to let Will eat my non vegan cheesecake...though I might eat the chocolatey bits?

So dead.

Since we’re talking food, the Oklahoma State Fair starts this weekend.

One of the newly debuted foods is fried gummy bears.

I’m not sure I’m down? I mean, fried anything is good I suppose. However, given the choice, if I’m going to cheat on my macros, just shut up and give me a fried Snickers. smile

Check in tomorrow to talk about why we need to change up our routine
