It’s Thursday and I’m home.
I loved my time in Canada and was thankful for the opportunity to visit such a beautiful country.
But man, I really love being home.
Today’s post is devoted to pictures and a recap of my time in the great land of Canada.
The weather was mild, but unfortunately it rained for a large portion of my trip. I don’t think I saw the sun once.
I was disappointed because I was hoping to spend some time out and about. Thankfully, though, I was still able to explore a little.
I was fortunate enough to travel in style to Canada and back. Quite simply, it was spectacular. I fear the next time I travel coach I will feel like a heifer being crammed into the back of a cattle car.
The jet I took ruined me in the best way possible.
We got in Sunday afternoon and had a little time to explore before the first round of rain came.
I had dinner at a place called Joey’s, and enjoyed a healthy(ish) quinoa salad.
The best part of the evening was climbing into bed before 8:30.
Oh, and can we please laugh at the differences between FaceTiming with Will versus P?
P is engaged and dynamic.
Heck, even Layla gets it.
(Her smile!! Killing me.)
Well, I’m often being carried to different rooms and staring at the ceiling. Look at my face in this pic. Haha
Aaaand the ceiling again.
Mostly the ceiling with a Will photo bomb. haha
Anyway, FaceTiming with him always cracks me up, so I decided to capture the “fun” of video chatting with Will during this trip.
Monday was busy and full of lots of meetings. I had quite possibly the best sandwich EVER for lunch that day (and Tuesday. And Wednesday. ) at a place called Chachi’s.
I never go bananas over sandwiches, and I still can’t put my finger on why I almost died from its deliciousness, but seriously- so good.
If you have one and haven’t been there, get The Veg toasted on brown bread.
Obviously the highlight of the afternoon.
My Monday evening was fantastic! After work, Angela was kind enough to walk over to my hotel to come pick me up for dinner.
It was so very good to see her in real life and give her a big hug! She’s just as beautiful and vibrant in her pictures, and it just totally lit me up to see her in the flesh.
We walked from the hotel to her apartment, which was so nice and allowed me to see more of the city from a local’s perspective. I got to see where she runs, as well as the fun stuff like the local grocery stores and coffee shops.
Like many metropolitan areas, the masses seem to get around by bike and foot. Sadly, Oklahoma City is so spread out its impossible to be able to do that, so I enjoyed the opportunity Monday night.
We walked to her apartment and enjoyed a glass of wine and conversation. I even got to meet her kitty Merlin, who is way more beautiful than Boz and Lucy.
But let’s just keep that between us.
Then it was on to dinner! The initial plan was to go to a new vegan place (!!!) called The Coop, but it ended up not opening until Tuesday.
Instead, we tried a quaint little place called The Market.
Oh. My. Goodness.
It features fresh and local fare, and offers a seasonal menu. The food was delicious! It was a carrot-y night for me. Haha I got a carrot salad full of all sorts of beautifully colored and fresh carrots, as well as a few other veggies. I also got a side of roasted carrots. Dead.dead.dead.
Angela and I both agreed they were most definitely the most delicious carrots we’ve ever had. I think perhaps they brined them in salt and then roasted them. So darn good.
We enjoyed good conversation until about 9:00.
Proof we met in real life.
Then it started to rain.
Instead of enjoying a nice walk back, we parted ways and I took a cab back to the hotel.
To put a bow on the day, Monday night was fantastic.
Tuesday wasn’t as fun, but eventful nonetheless.
It was full of things I won’t bore you with, as well as another trip to Chachis for lunch.
That evening I was able to do a little more exploring and take a few pictures. I had dinner at Bank and Barons, an old bank converted into a restaurant. So so cool. The food was good and the atmosphere was better. I got the Quinoa Chicken Salad, minus the chicken. Ha! They compensated by giving me a “boatload” of quinoa, as seen by P.
Oh, and considering this entire post is mainly food related, I feel like I should also tell you I worked out every single day on my trip.
Yes, I’m asking for a pat on the back.
Not a whole lot to share from yesterday. Meetings, lunch at Chachi’s again (hey why ruin a good thing?), and a trip home.
Where I belong.
Tonight a Will has softball practice and I can’t wait to
sweat all over myself watch and cheer him on.
I’m also off tomorrow, which is pretty darn exciting.
So that sums up my adventure to Canada! Thanks for indulging me! Check in tomorrow!
